My name is Charlie and food, family, and travel are at the heart of everything that I do.

​

As far back as I can remember - I have loved food. It isn’t just being able to enjoy the completed dish either; it is the entire culinary experience from start to finish. It is everything that is encountered from researching recipes, to shopping for ingredients, and exploring additions to enhance each bite. Food has always been my creative outlet and allows me to tell my own story and express my emotions.

My late Grandfather had a real passion for food and cooking, so I was extremely lucky to be a young boy by his side in the kitchen. I would take it all in, while he would prepare his outstanding and notoriously raved about Sunday roasts. Everything from the basics to decade-old family secrets were passed on to me in his kitchen. After entering my adult years, I took my learned love of food to Eastern Europe as intrigue for travel and family history steered me towards the Czech Republic. There I learned about perspective, I learned about culture and the pride that goes into a cuisine  spanning back hundreds of years. I learned to question myself and to push myself to achieve my own proud moments.

Returning back to New Zealand, I have now done just that – I am delighted to offer you, my passion; Zlatý.

 

Zlatý allows me to share my creativity and enthusiasm - with each product, dish, and recipe that I create, I aim to showcase fresh and vibrant produce, while focusing on locality and native flavours. 

​

Zlatý is proudly committed to doing our part in reducing carbon footprints by using 100% recycled containers, using only free-range eggs, recycling raw food waste, and buying local and seasonal produce.

​

I personally believe in supporting each other, creating strong communities, and a more positive human experience. Like most families, I have a cause that has deeply touched  and affected someone close and because of this, I am committed to donating 3% of all profits to the Movember foundation. ​
